My hobby :-)

Now, when I'm not doing ICT... and other school work. I take photos and edit.
I've always loved capturing moments. If I don't have my digital camera in my bag, or my nikon, then something is not right.
I'll always be the first to take a picture at a party, and the first to upload them on facebook, the next day.

And when I have lots of spare time, or can't be bothered to do work. I'll be taking pictures. This happened last saturday. And I started researching different methods on what I always wanted to do with my camera. And lights always intrigued me. So I changed some settings on my dslr, and shot away from my balcony. I found out how to do that really cool effect, when you can see car lights moving (like in the first picture).

I actually put these photos on photocase.com, which is a website where people can buy your pictures, unfortunately they rejected my photos for various reasons. But I think they're still quite nice and exciting.
I won't be giving up on this hobby, and will be going to photography courses in January, which I'm really looking forward to :-D

And when I'm not behind the camera, I'm in front of it. ;-)

Mr. West

Now... I wouldn't joke about Kanye.
But this is amazing, I have watched this video every day since it has come out, even though it's 34 minutes long.
It's basically a video to promote his new album "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy"... which I will definitely BUY not download. He deserves some money for this.

“Given how controversial West's every artistic gesture seems to have become, I have a feeling we'll be in for a round of dismissals of ‘Runaway’ as a pretentious piece. Instead, it deserves to be seen as a carefully modulated art-film made by a man on a mission.” By CNN

My friend is into the whole 'Illuminati" thing, she watched this video and just named all the hidden messages there are in this video/movie. And if course I researched it, I haven't found anything too good to show you, but I did find an amazing analogy on "Alejandro - Lady Gaga" (this is the link to the analogy btw). I love Lady Gaga, but she does scare this s***t out of me with videos like this.

I would explain what the video is about, but I'm afraid you're just going to have to let it load and watch the whole 34 minutes of it. You will get bored a few times, but at the end you will kind of look back on it and think "wow, that was kind of amazing".
I certainly did.

And the models name is Selita Ebanks, she's a Victoria secret model (obviously) and in my eyes she completed this movie. I don't blame you if you google her straight away- I did too.

So... Go watch the video.

P.S. If you don't like Kanye or you aren't into arty movies, then you really won't like this.

... I promised

now... if you haven't heard this already, then you are missing out!
and pleaseee go listen to "I Need Air - Magnetic Man"

P.S. I'm winning the competition against Joshy boy, who thinks he can get more views than me... PFFF

Pretty Websites

Helloo there :-)

Another saturday, another piece of homework...
This one is about website designs, mainly the pretty one's that include css!
I loveeeeed this task, it gave me an opportunity to gather ideas for my own website that I'll be starting soon, and of course I'll be updating you with screen shots and feedback! And of course I "delicous-ed" all the websites I liked. ;-)

This "pretty" website, I found on http://www.thebestdesigns.com/... and this is what it looks like...

I know right, pretty!
But not only that, the features are great, seriously. Everything is on one page, which I know can sometimes be tacky, and haunting. But this design makes it look great. And the menu scrolls you straight to the category. It looks smart, simple and different. The text isn't too long, and contains everything you need to know. Thumbnails are used for pictures, and once you click one picture, it turns into a slideshow, meaning you don't have to click exit and click the next picture over and over again.
Not only that... but at the bottom of the page there is a "contact me" form...
Now, even though I don't want to hire this guy through this gorgeous contact form, I just want to tell him how much I adore his website.

Here's the link to it: http://www.kevinmonger.co.uk/

I have actually just looked at this website for two minutes to see what I don't like about it... and I got nothing.
Let me know if you don't like something about it, I'd love to know- for the benefit of my own future website.

;-) take care all you bloggers...

ICT Review

Mornin', this is a task set by our ict teacher to write about the last lesson we had.
Last thursday we were asked by our ICT teacher to fill out a kind of...survey. It was to give our teacher an insight to what we think about his lessons and what could be improved. It included questions like "What do you think could be improved in theory lessons?" and we were expected to write quite in-depth answers, so that the survey would give our teacher more information and help him to change his lessons. I thought this was very different from any other teachers' attempts to change a lesson, or method of teaching.
I hope it does work, and may change some of the things we didn't enjoy, but at the end of the day we are at school... we're not supposed to enjoy it. ;-)

Good Interview Techniques

Yess, before you ask, this is my ICT homework.

This seems like quite an obvious and straight-forward thing people should know about, how to impress in an interview, but many fail to remember these techniques to score some points in an interview...
http://www.tfpl.com/recruitment/candidates/cvinterviews.cfm
has some really good advice, on what the interviewer is actually looking for, and how you can answer their questions the best. This is useful as you're getting the employers/interviewers perspective.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/A438536
This is from BBC, and contains quite old fashioned techniques to impress your interviewer, which may help you with the preparation for your interview.

I will definately use these for my first interview :-)

The Physically Disabled and Computers

Now... this is actually my homework for ICT, to find out how the physically disabled people can use computers, but I actually find this quite interesting as well.
I do wonder sometimes how I would manage without my senses, and on top of that without my computer. So the research I had found out about this is quite enlightening. I found out that...

- there are softwares made for the physically and mentally disabled, and that they will remove all barriers of disability, depending on the disability
- There is such a device called "The Tongue Drive System" where a small magnet is implanted in the users tongue, whom then has to movie his tongue to move the cursor around, as the tongue is directly connceted to the brain by a nerve, whereas all other parts of the body are connected to the brain through the spinal cord.
- The cursor can me moved by trackballs and foot pedals instead of the usual mouse
- There are joysticks that control the cursor on screen in the same way a mouse does
- There is the obvious touch screen that allows us to interact with the computer by touching the screen, although this method is used throughout the world by people with no disabilities
- Keyboards that have larger or smaller keys, or one that can be used with only one hand
- There are reading machines, that read the information on screen out loud, this is usually for the visually impaired
- There is the well known "Braille Technology" that writes the text into embossed Braille output. The embosser also lets you access your email, the internet and audio-streaming and many more

There is new technology coming out every day for the Physically disabled, and this allows them the use of computers just like everyone else.
The more advanced and usually more expensive, use infrared beams, ultrasound, eye movements, brain waves etc., to guide the cursor on screen without the use of hands.

This gives me a little bit of hope, that I would still be able to use my computer if something happened to me :-)

Homework- CHECK.

I'm back...

hellooo...

just woke up, and felt like I needed to change this blog a little... so new pic, and new post ;-)
you know that feeling when you find some new music and you fall in love with it?
happened to me last night... and first thing I wanted to do this morning it listen to it over and over again... so let me share my joy with you... listen to "somethingalamode"- which is the album and band name :-) And by now you should have figured I'm a bit of an electronic fan... although some XX and Au Revoir Simone will do me no harm! Oh and also listen to some Royksopp- The Drug.

Now here's the ICT bit, which is what I'm supposed to blog about...;-) I share all my music and pics with my friends in Switzerland with a... server. Called "Fetch". Now, it's actually even better than it sounds, you know when you buy songs off iTunes? and you have that 5 computer rule, well Fetch doesn't care, upload your bought songs, or your illegaly downloaded one's, and it will stay on that server till the owner deletes it, which he won't! And anyone who has the username, password for that ftp. server can "get" it. :-)
ahhh... don't you love technology?!

Here's the Royksopp video that I'm talking about...

ooohhh, and I went to the cinema after a long time last night... and watched "going the distance", not bad, not bad... even though they cut all the good scenes once again... but I discovered some more good music - "The Boxer Rebellion". Now they got some serious advertising on that movie.

Bye for now... :-)

Facebook in Education

... Last week I started my AS ICT course at Dubai British School, which I was mega excited for. I do believe ICT is the future.
So... my first task was "Facebook in Education" and how I can explain it to the class and the  teacher. And at the moment, Facebook is not blocked at our school, and I had to almost persuade the teacher to not block it. Our teacher, Mr Wood, who is very enthusisatic about new programs, showed us prezi.com  - a presentational tool. I checked it out, did some tests and loved it. Thought it was so much better than PowerPoint, which looks boring, and has no templates to create a presentation quickly.

I started researching the history of Facebook, and the owners if it. I then searched for videos, and found a really good basic description of Facebook, which is actually the trailer for a new movie that's coming out in October, about Mark Zuckerberg and the making of Facebook.
I found more info, and pics I could use; to give my classmates a visual example, not that they need one... everyone has Facebook :-P

So I put all the information I found, on a prezi canvas, and created frames, and transitions, that would make my final piece look nice and would also catch my classmates eyes... so that they don't zone out.
I hope I achieved that...
:-)
what else?
My presentation is now somewhere on YouTube, as my teacher filmed me... haha.

Well... this is it for today :-)
